It has been 10 long years since System of a Down last played in Australia, so members of Sydney metal and deathcore bands are teaming up to deliver a SOAD cover set, performing songs from all of their studio albums. Opening the show are Modus Fire and Moof De Vah. Featuring musicians from To The Grave and other Sydney metal bands, the System of a Down tribute will be playing all the hits as well as a bunch of fan favourites at Moshpit Bar in Erskineville on Friday 1 July. Modus Fire blend intricate metal riffs with apocalyptic horn lines and soaring vocals. Their Hell On Earth EP released in 2020 is an ambitious mix of punk rock, metal and ska, and they’ve got a lot of new material on the way. Moof De Vah have been quiet recently, but are ready to reignite playing comedic hard rock tunes about hooked handed men, Harry Potter’s misadventures to Saudi Arabia and tampon-themed superheroes.
